The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down a very deep well.

Welcome to the much awaited sequel to last week’s post, Hello I Am on a Break.
As this hits your inbox, I’m most likely around here, having just crossed the St. Lawrence estuary in a boat, and headed to eat a delicious lobster poutine tomorrow:
To you, it seems like a week has elapsed since the last post. But I’m writing it on the same day, actually, about two hours later. There’s something to be said about the time-bending qualities of scheduling stuff for the future.
Since I didn’t have much to say in the last post, what more can I offer now, a couple of hours later? What could I possibly write about?
Honestly, writing this question makes it sound really stupid.
How the hell can there be no interesting topics to write about? I read about interesting things multiple times a day! I can and often do binge-read Wikipedia for quite a long time. So what if this newsletter just became a way to share the results of going down various rabbit holes?
A Twitter mutual said my bio could be “i like going down rabbit holes. sometimes i emerge from them to share what i’ve learned.” Several have said I write cool Twitter threads. So it seems I have a budding reputation as the kind of person who brings to light random topics in a nice way.
So okay, let’s make that the core principle of Light Gray Matters, then! A rabbit hole, carefully picked from the week’s selection. Why not?
I’ve clearly struggled at making this newsletter have any sort of coherent theme, or topic, or even form. It seems like this might be the solution. Besides, it’ll help me differentiate this newsletter from Dark Gray Matters. I can use the blog for more elaborate projects and reflections about personal experience, and of course Twitter for shitposting and random threads.
All right. So. Officially: Light Gray Matters, rabbit hole edition, will begin next week, for issue #40.
See you then!
